Smart Girl Politics Border Clean-up

This past Saturday I spent an amazing day in Bisbee, near Naco, Arizona. Smart Girl Politics sponsored a border clean-up in remembrance of Rancher Robert Krentz who was killed most likely by an illegal entrant into our country.

Our group ended up exploring a trail known as an alien “Super Highway” and we found all kinds of things on the trail as well as some surprises at the Border Fence itself.

Jesse Kelly wins Oro Valley Debate

Tucson Tea Party Hosts Hundreds

Hundreds of people gathered outside of Gabrielle Giffords’ office Tuesday afternoon/evening to show their displeasure for her vote for Pelosi/Obama care.  Here’s my take on how it went:

Giffords’ Video Flashback: She’ll Fight for Tort Reform

Remember the town hall that Gabrielle Giffords hosted in Tucson on September 10, 2009?  When answering the first question, Giffords said she would “fight for tort reform” and that a bill without it would be a “mistake.”  Here’s a reminder:

The 1,990 page H.R. 3962 “Affordable Health Care for America Act” as the Democrats are calling it, is coming up for a vote probably by Saturday, November 7, 2009.  Make no mistake, it would be a government take over of health care in this country.  There is federal funding of abortions in this bill.   It would eventually lead to rationing of health care and the Congressional Budget Office says the bill will give the American taxpayer a bill of over a TRILLION dollars.

The alternative solution?  It would make so much more sense to allow insurance companies to compete across state lines.  Initiate Medical savings accounts and allow people to pay for care.   Return insurance to it’s proper place… for catastrophic care.  By returning competition to health care, you will drive down the cost and improve care even more!  Cost?  WAY less than a TRILLION dollars.  We would probably save $$.

Jesse Kelly on Mark Levin

Kelly-034

Kelly for Congress!

Jesse Kelly continues to get national coverage in his campaign against Gabrielle Giffords. He was on the Mark Levin show for a short and sweet interview about Southern Arizona politics, focusing on how Gabrielle Giffords pretends to be a “Blue Dog” Democrat when in reality, she voted for the so-called stimulus and Cap & Trade, and supports a public option in Obamacare.

I was able to record Mark Levin’s interview of Jesse Kelly and I share it with you now:

Tucson Town Hall Fun & Game Show

Gabrielle Giffords finally held a Town Hall on Obamacare Tuesday night at Sahuaro High School. There were about 1200 people inside the auditorium and reportedly another 1,000 in an overflow area that was fed a closed circuit feed of the proceedings.

I got in the main auditorium and did the best I could zooming around with my camera. More importantly, ordinary (I like that) Southern Arizonans got a chance to tell their Congresswoman what they thought of Obamacare. And they did!

Here’s my take:

Signs of the Times

There’s “Astroturf” and then there’s American ingenuity and creativity.  Here’s a look at the Tucson Tea Party event held in front of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ office at 4-7 p.m. compared to the Breakfast & Rally for Health Care Reform event held at the same place at 8 a.m.

Getting to Know Jesse Kelly

Jesse Kelly is doing a tremendous job getting his name out there.  While sometimes elections are won by name recognition alone, what a huge advantage it is to have a candidate with substance.  As more and more people start finding out who Jesse Kelly is, I believe they will like what they see.  Here’s an interview Kelly did on the Tucson PBS Station.  Judge for yourself:

Kelly Wins Debate by Forfeit!

Jesse Kelly challenged Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to a debate on health care.  The challenge was made months ago and the event was held last night.  Did she show?  Of course not, but Jesse Kelly got some good coverage from KGUN9 “On Your Side.”

After watching Kelly in action last week at the Town Hall in Green Valley/Sahaurita I can see why Congresswoman Giffords didn’t want to show up.   Jesse Kelly knows what he is talking about and knows how to articulate it.  By Giffords skipping the event she continues to dodge her adoring public.  She skipped an opportunity to face the people she serves who would have been able to confront her over her votes, and ask her where she stands on the proposed health care bill.

So.  Was last night’s debate a “political stunt?”   I’m not sure it matters.  By making the bold move to call out the Congresswoman, Kelly wins.  If Giffords had shown up then District 8 voters would have a chance to hear both sides of the debate and make their thoughts and feelings known.  Giffords didn’t show up, but she was forced to respond via statement and dismiss the event as a “political stunt.”  Kelly wins the debate by forfeit and his campaign has Giffords on the defensive.  Nice.
